Philippine Independence Day

June 8, 2009

Every year Filipino celebrates its Independence day every 12th of June.  I remember when I was young I was so happy hearing that its already Independence day, the reason was not about I’m happy because I’m joining them celebrating the true spirit of the celebration. But the true reason was that I’m glad and so with my cousins because we have  no classes during that day.  It was a national holiday. So we have the other day to extend our vacation at school.

As I grew up and start to learn lot of things at school I have learned the true essence of celebrating the Independence day. I have learned how the Filipino soldiers fight for our freedom. How they sacrifice their own life, for us to live now as a freemen. Today, as I heard the national anthem I become so emotional. Imagining how my forefathers fought for the freedom of our country. And so with our heroes. What I want to see is how this celebrated in the Luneta Park in Manila. this is where our  national hero, Jose Rizal was shot by the Spaniards.very year the President of the country and some of the leaders gathered at the place to lead the flag raising ceremony.

For the month of June there will be lot of  celebration in Metro Manila, not only celebrating the Independence day but also feast, you can check some of this schedule at www.manilatd.com
